UVA celebrates class of 2025 as Norbrook hands Makerere’s best Vets sh15million

Dr. Ronald Fashaho (sh7m),  Dr. Ahmed Ssebagala (sh4m), Dr. Alfred Tokuma (Sh4m) left Makerere’s 75th graduation ceremony all smiles, as on top of they joy of graduating, they each got a cash boost from Norbrook Uganda Limited.

The annual Norbrook sponsored Golden Excellence Academic Award (GEAA) comes with a cash prize of sh15milion – with the top graduand this time taking sh7million, and sh4million to the 2nd and third since they tied.

This is the fourth straight year that the three best Veterinary Medicine students at Makerere University have been awarded cash prizes by Norbrook for excelling in their studies.

The award given out at the Convocation this time,  is a result of the collaboration between Uganda Veterinary Association, College of Veterinary Medicine Animal Resources and Biosecurity (COVAB ) and Norbrook.  Norbrook are a leading global provider of veterinary pharmaceuticals.

Earlier, the Uganda Veterinary Association (UVA) cut a cake to celebrate the success of the new Vet doctors. It was attended by Dr. Moses Setenda, of Norbrook Uganda Limited and UVA President Akashaba, who presented a sh15 million cheque to the best students.

The cake cutting event on Monday was also the climax of a one week membership registration exercise held ahead of this weeks graduation ceremonies.

The UVA outreach at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal resources and Biosecurity (COVAB)  was mainly targeting the enrolment of over 60 graduands of the Bachelor of veterinary medicine.

Dr Phiona Katushabe from Wakiso, and Dr Solomon Kiggundu were among the first to make it to the UVA members registration desk , and over 40 graduands have registered. The desk was manned by Dr. Victoria Mayiga and Karugaba Chriscent of the UVA office.
